LUIS MIGUEL is the number 1 of the Latin American
music-world. At the age of twelve years the Mexican by birth had
his first hits, at the age of fifteen he had already shot his second
movie. When he was sixteen MIGUEL received his first Grammy,
one year later his 5th album Soy Como Quiero Ser (1986) was
honoured with eight gold and five platinum awards. 20 Anos
(1990) was his greatest success to date: the “World Music
Awards” in Cannes chose LUIS MIGUEL as “Best Latin American
Singer”, during his US tour he gave a concert in the Madison
Square Garden of New York. The 10th album Romance, a
collection of classical Latin ballads, was sold over 4,5 million
times. Now the 11th album of LUIS MIGUEL Aries is available.
The first single of the album Ayer (“Yesterday”) shows the singer,
composer and producer from his romantic side – altogether Aries
however is extraordinary varied. “The album contains themes and
moods that reach from nostalgia (Pensar En Ti) and the drama of
solitude (Me Niego A Estar Solo) to timeless poetry of Hasta Que
Me Olvides,” tells MIGUEL.
Co-produced by Luis Miguel and David Foster, who already
made Chicago's theme "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" a world-hit.
The ten tracks of Aries MIGUEL created with the famous studio
musicians Kirk Whalum (saxophone), Harvey Mason (drums),
Paulinho Da Costa (percussion), Michael Landau (guitar), Robbie
Buchanan (guitar) as well as some more well versed and famous
musicians from Los Angeles. Furthermore at Que Nivel De Mujer
(the cover version of their own Attitude Dance) you can listen to
the Tower Of Power wind players. The opener Suave is a funky party hit: “I love Tower Of Power, Earth, Wind & Fire. R&B, Motown and HipHop are my music, my influence derives from these sounds.”As greatest vocal inspiration LUIS MIGUEL names the Chilean troubadour Lucho Gatica. This mixing of Anglo-American pop and soul elements as well as Latin-American rich in tradition music culture make the songs of LUIS MIGUEL a unique and unusual attractive pop event. Although for LUIS MIGUEL the crossover success in Europe is just a question of time, in future he wants to sing in his native language Spanish. “A crossover project would demand a lot of time, as I still do not feel comfortable regarding the English language. Esta mezclar de pop anglo americano y elementos de Soul, sumados a la cultura musical Latinoamericana tradicional , hace que las canciones de LUIS MIGUEL sean unicas y un evento pop totalmente inusual. A pesar que el crossover en Europa de LUIS MIGUEL solo es cuestion de tiempo, en el futuro el quiere seguir cantando en su lengua materna, el español. "El proyecto del crossover demandaria mucho tiempo, porque aun no me siento comodo con el ingles. Por esto, seguire cantando español por un tiempo mas".
